  1. 1Go to m365.cloud.microsoft and sign in with porte.ca
  2. 2Look for the green shield
  3. 3Stay in Chat, click New chat

Why Copilot? It knows your work, your email, files and meetings, and it stays inside Porte's protection. Personal ChatGPT doesn't.

Run of show

  1. 1:30

Karin opens; Scott walks through the program.

  2. 1:35

Follow along in Copilot. First stop, Chat: run Prompt 1 to prep for your meetings and check a citation. Then we tour the rest.

  3. 1:58

Scott shows a quick ask and a full prompt on the sample bid, then has Copilot check its own answer. Then try the prompt builder.

  4. 2:08

Watch the demo, then Prompt 2 on your own inbox.

  5. 2:20
Where Copilot lives in your apps

A quick look at Copilot in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. We go deeper in Session 2.

  6. 2:24

    Prompt 3, then Prompt 4.

  7. 2:28
    Wrap-up and this week's challenge
Simple task, simple ask. When facts matter, use all four ingredients: Goal, Context, Source, Expectations.

Try both: quick ask vs full prompt

Attach the sample bid, run the quick ask, then the full prompt in a new chat. Compare the answers.

Quick ask

1. Quick ask

Summarize this.

Full prompt

2. Full prompt

Goal: Give me a one-page summary of this bid that I can use to brief my manager.

Context: I'm reviewing a site servicing bid for a 32-unit townhome project.

Source: Use only the attached PDF. If something isn't in the document, say "not stated."

Expectations: A short table of price, schedule, exclusions and payment terms, then the three biggest risks.

Cite the page for each point, and flag anything you're unsure about.

Then ask:

What in your answer isn't supported by my sources?

Today's prompts

Prompt 1

Quick ask

Prep for your meetings

Prep me for my next three meetings. For each one, tell me what it's about, who's attending, and what I should read or bring. Cite the meeting or email each point came from.

Then click one of the citations to check where it came from.

Prompt 2

Quick ask

Outlook

Open a real email thread and click Summarize at the top. Then click Draft with Copilot and type:

Reply to confirm [what you're agreeing to or the next step]. Keep it short and friendly.

Read it and fix it before you send. Copilot drafts, you decide.

Prompt 3

Quick ask

Your top use case

Open your interview summary, pick use case #1, and paste its "Ask Copilot" prompt.

Didn't do the interview?

Here's a task I do every week: [describe it in two sentences, no confidential details]. How could you help me do it faster? Ask me what you need first. If you don't know something, say so, and tell me what you assumed.

Prompt 4

Quick ask

Ask Copilot to coach you

How should I prompt you to get this right the first time next time? What did you need from me that I didn't give you?

Ground it, check it

  1. 1

Ground it: Point Copilot at the source, and add:

Use only my sources, say if you don't know, and tell me where each fact came from.

  2. 2

    Check it: Ask:

What in your answer isn't supported by my sources?

Then confirm the numbers, names and dates yourself. You own the result.

porte.ca account + green shield = protected. Rule 2 of Porte's AI Use Policy still decides what goes in. Cowork and adding agents: stop and ask first.

This week's challenge: Use Copilot once a day on real work, and bring one win and one fail to office hours on Friday, November 13.
